Reflections *15 – To God, Thanks is due

For mothers love and Fathers care
For food to eat and clothes to wear
For home and friend and answered prayer
I thank thee Lord
But most of all my thanks shall be
That on the cross of Calvary
The Saviour gave His life for me
I thank thee Lord.

An old Story: A little boy was so happy after drinking a glass of cold water on a hot day that he impulsively thanked the glass. ‘Don’t thank me ‘said the glass thank the tap where I came from’. So he thanked the tap and the tap said ‘Don’t thank me, thank the well and so he did that. Now the well replied ‘You should thank the rain and not me’ So he thanked the rain and the rain said ‘Thank the clouds and not me’. The clouds said ‘Thank the sun’ the sun said ‘Thank the ocean’ The ocean said ‘Thank the one who made me, the sun, the clouds, the rain, the well, and the man who made the tap and the glass’. Now the boy realized that everything he had came from God, and he profusely thanked God with all His heart.

God has innumerable ways to help us and reach us, but He is the source of all blessings. Many a times we thank the seen giver, but forget the unseen giver. Behind everything is the heart of our Loving Abba Father who longs to keep on blessing us as we keep on asking Him. Hallelujah!

prayer hands

Prayer: (Go through your life and thank Him with all you heart for His goodness and all that He has bountifully given you and experience His peace)

The Bible says in Rom 8:32 Since God did not spare even his own son but gave him up for us all, won’t God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else?

THE BIBLE: Read it everyday. It records all the victories that God has given you as a believer. Read it passionately to know your new position and inheritance in Christ.

Trust in God – Part two

When we trust in the Lord, we are ready to wait for Him. When we trust in Him we are ready to face the consequences of our waiting on Him. For we would trust in Him and in the outcome of the situation.

Practically in life’s situation we have to show this Trust in our words and our action.  For the Lord does not look at the outward appearance but at our hearts.  In life’s situations let us not be tempted to succumb to the situations around us.  God has better plans and we see that repeatedly in the scriptures.  Our God is able to do much more than we ask or think and He is able to call out those things which are not as if they were.  So let us stand on His Word to see the blessings flow.  Let not our past experiences define our circumstances but let His Word which is eternal define our today and tomorrow.  He said ‘Heaven and earth will pass away but my Word shall not pass away’.  His Word will fulfill every purpose for which it has been send saith the Lord who has mercy upon us.

TRUST BEYOND DESPAIR

In the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon there were three Hebrew youths in captivity from Israel who refused to bow before the golden image that the King had made.  They were ready to face the consequences of a fiery death but refused to break the commandment of their God. On being warned and given another opportunity they still refused to heed to the Kings command.. saying as written in Dan 3:16-18

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver usfrom your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”

They trusted in their God and were willing to face the consequences.  How much do we Trust the Lord and His Word.  How far are we going to stand for His Word ? Let us learn and draw from the experience of these young Hebrew lads who were in a foreign land and stood for their God.    The fire was increased seven times and they were cast into the fire, but the Lord Himself stood with them in the fire and delivered them.  They came out unscathed, their hair was in tact nor was the smell of smoke on their body.  The king testified about them as mentioned in Dan 3:28,29

Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel[b] and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God! …………. because there is no other God who can deliver like this.”

So when we Trust in Him, He know us and will remember us, testify about us and show up on our behalf. Fear Not for He does not change…

The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands. Ps 138:8

Listen to this old melody and rejoice – Trust in the Lord and despair

Trusting in God – Part one

The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.  Nahum 1:7

When we trust in the Lord, we are ready to wait for Him. When we trust in Him we are ready to face the consequences of our waiting on Him. For we would trust in Him and in the outcome of the situation.

God told Noah to build an Ark and he  obeyed the Lord and built the Ark, with his family.  The people wondered if there would ever be rain and they continued their lives till disaster struck. Probably they thought that the waters would subside but the deep and the heavens were opened to put an end to the violent and sinful and wicked people.  Noah and his family  family were the only humans saved alive, along with all the other living creatures in the Ark.  So how long was Noah in the Ark with all the living things and the cattle. He was in the Ark for more than a year and few months.  Now after about 150 days (5 months) God remembered him as recorded in Gen 8:1..

Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided.

After the waters subsided it was  one year and then the land also dried as recorded in Gen 8:13

And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the firstmonth, the first day of the month, that the waters were dried up from the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and indeed the surface of the ground was dry.

But still Noah patiently waited for a total of 57 days till the land was totally dry.  And God spoke to Noah as recorded in Gen 8:15,16
Then God spoke to Noah, saying,  “Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.

When we trust in God He will remember us.  If 600 year old Noah waited for 57 days to hear from God then if we take an average life span of 80 to 100 years then we have to wait on God for atleast 7 to 10 days to hear from Him. The Lord may respond earlier than that.  But our waiting on God with specific purpose, to hear Him, builds us and strengthens us.

Noah was not disappointed and so will also all those who wait on Him.

If you are in one corner of the world in a remote city, an ordinary person, but if you Trust in Him, He will remember you and as Soddom and Gomorah was not destroyed till Lot was brought to safety,  He will surely remember you.

Ebedmelech was a Eunuch in the court of King Zedekiah.  This king did not submit to the prophecy of Jeremiah that they would be safe if they surrender to the invading Babylonian army.  Jeremiah was treated with much harshness and was put in a pit, but Ebedmelech was instrumental in securing the kings permission to rescue him.  The Word of God was fulfilled through Jeremiah and the army invaded and killed the kings children in front of his eyes.  But Jeremiah was set free but what happened to Ebedmelech, did God forget him.  God remembered him as recorded in Jer 39:15-18

15 Meanwhile the word of the Lord had come to Jeremiah while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying, 16 “Go and speak to Ebed-Melech the Ethiopian, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Behold, I will bring My words upon this city for adversity and not for good, and they shall be performed in that day before you. 17 But I will deliver you in that day,” says theLord, “and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid. 18 For I will surely deliver you, and you shall not fall by the sword; but your life shall be as a prize to you, because you have put your trust in Me,” says the Lord.’”

What a great deliverence. The Lord knew his fears , gave him assurance and delivered him , because and only because He trusted in God.  So fear not.  God will remember us as we Trust Him and continue to trust Him and He will deliver us.

So when we Trust in Him, He know us and will remember us, testify about us and show up on our behalf. Fear Not.

When the King returns to the vineyard

What is our calling and what does thee Lord expect of us ?  Are we giving Him, our Lord and Master the fruit He expects from us.  Apostle Paul said – I have kept the faith, I have finished the course.…. are we on the appointed Heavenly course ?  When an athlete runs the race he must be on the right track.  In case he breaks the track he could still continue running, but in the end faces disqualification.  Let us run with all diligence, focused on the course laid by Him, so as to win a prize.

As we are careful to make our call and election and our position in building His Kingdom sure, we receive further grace to build and stand upon the rock.   As 2 Pet 3:10 says

 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;

In 2 Chron 26 we read about King Uzziah who was a mighty king and who prospered as long as he sought the Lord. But the day he went into the temple to burn incense,  as his heart was lifted up to his own destruction, the Lord struck him with leprosy.  He did not heed the priests advice not to do so… and did what he was not called to do.

Let us run so as to build His Kingdom as members of a larger body of Christ. Let us build in a way He wants it and horseproduce fruits Matt 21:43,44

“Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.  Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.”

Bearing fruits in our relationship with him, giving Him the fruit of our lips – Thanks giving and Praise, fruits in our relationship with others – doing unto them as we would like them to do unto us and shining in this dark world with the True Light of Christ from within.

For the shaking continues as the Bible says in Haggai 2:6

“For thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land;
After the Tsunamis and earthquakes, rising of nations against each other and rising terrorism,  and now the current years being full of reports of the shaking of dry land, the shootouts, terror attacks, refugee situation and so on. Situations which the world had not seen in such great magnitude.  Is this not the time to stay our hearts, mind and our focus on the return of the King.  To look upto Him and to Him alone the Coming King.  As recorded in Luke 21:28
Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

So when the King returns what will He find us doing- Ready ,serving, building, WATCHING

Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat,and will come and serve them.
Luke 12:37

Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”  Luke 12:40

The time and season calls for His Kingdom priorities to be first in our lives even as we continue to live for Him.  Surely He is returning.  Let us make our calling and election sure, and put our house in order.

Oh Taste and see that the LORD is good

The Lord would have tasted bitter to Abraham when he called him to sacrifice his son Isaac but his unflinching obedience resulted in eternal sweetness.  Abraham knew that the one who gave him his ministry or his future was to be ministered to, more than the ministry or the promise itself.

Peter fished all night and caught nothing but at the Word of the Lord cast his nets one more time, just to have a great catch, so much so, he had to call his friends to help.  The goodness of the Lord brought Peter on his knees.

At all times and every time, Oh taste and see that the Lord is good .

As the Son of God ministered lives were changed and transformed forever, the bound set free and all kinds of sicknesses were healed.  The masses tasted and saw that the Lord was good, but a rich man missed the bus. We read this in Luke 18:18 onwards.  The story of the rich young ruler in whose context  Jesus said

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

But with God all things are possible when our eyes are stayed upon Him and not on our perishable existence and temporal riches.   Jesus picked out that one thing in the rich mans heart which prevented him from wholeheartedly following  God.  As recorded in the Bible he was but the only man who went back disappointed, who went back without tasting the goodness of the Lord.  So close to eternal salvation, yet so far away…..

At times it may be, just that one thing that keeps us away from wholeheartedly following the truth, though we know all of it.  What is it that prevents us from tasting the eternal goodness of God ?   Is there something , a one thing… let us give into God today. Let us turn away from practice of every evil way, breaking of Gods laws…  Let us walk as children of the light, practicing righteousness, living in the truth knowing that all the works of darkness will be made manifest

“Let the one who does wrong, still do wrong; and the one who is filthy, still be filthy; and let the one who is righteous, still practice righteousness; and the one who is holy, still keep himself holy.” Rev 22:11

Is this not where we stand today ? Even as gross darkness covers the world, His true servants and vessels will shine out in this darkness.  Gross darkness e.g Canada starts new curriculum for kindergarten students.  Family is Father , mother and children, or Father father and children or mother mother and children. The filthy will become filthier and the holy will become holier.  The days ahead will not allow us to take a neutral stand. Either one has to be hot or one has to be cold.  As there will be no position in between. The Light will push you into darkness or the darkness will cast you out into the Light.

My testimony

Years back as I worshipped God in a teaching seminar, we were all lifting our voices and praising God.  All were speaking in the Spirit.  That day the Lord gave me a new experience as I spoke in a tongue as the Spirit gave me utterance. Later on I learnt that I was speaking in an Indian language called Telugu.  I never knew what I was speaking, but there was a brother who was kneeling beside me and was so excited to hear me pray in his mother tongue.  When he learnt that I did not know Telugu then we were more excited and remembered the incident in the Bible in Acts 2:7-12.    What was i praying in another known tongue – The Spirit was crying out – Save my soul Oh God, Save my soul Oh God.  This message thrilled the brother and encouraged him greatly in the Lord. But to me it was a warning of my spiritual state which I knew, as at that time I was away from the Lord.  This incident made me to check my heart and fully surrender to the Lord with repentance.  Today the Lord has resurrected me from that situation and I can say – Oh taste and see that the Lord is good…

His goodness gives us every blessing of peace and joy in our hearts.  His goodness also takes us to be with Him as we keep our garments clean……..

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!  Ps 34:8

Magnify HIM with THANKSGIVING

I will praise the name of God with a song,
And will magnify Him with thanksgiving.  Psalms 69:30

With my hands lifted up, and my mouth filled with praise
With a heart of thanksgiving , I will bless thee Oh! Lord.
I will bless thee Oh Lord, I will bless thee Oh Lord
With a heart of thanksgiving, I will bless thee Oh Lord.

A beautiful old song to bless the Lord with a heart full of Thanksgiving.  In Psalms 100:4 King David wrote

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

He was always glad to go into the house of the Lord.  As He entered the gates of the temple he would remember the victories the Lord gave him, how he had killed the bear and the lion with his bare hands, when the Spirit of the Lord came upon him.  How the Lord lifted him up from a shepherd boy to be the King of Israel.  As his heart pondered on this,  it swelled with thanksgiving to the Lord and he would find himself thanking and praising God as he entered the temple.

A true incident

Thank You Lord for giving me a HOPE and a FUTURE

During my college days there was a tailoring  shop close to where I stayed. One day, a Thursday in the evening between 4 and 5 pm,  the shop  looked closed with half shutter pulled down.   The next day  I asked the tailor about it and what he said moved my heart.  The reason for the shop to be on half shutter, during a good time for business.

The tailor said that a few years back as he was travelling in a bus in South India, the bus fell off into a deep valley and in this accident all the 21 people in the bus died on the spot, but he was the only one who was saved miraculously.  This happened on a Thursday.  So every Thursday between 4 to 5, his heart and mind would turn to the Lord with thanksgiving and he would put the shutter down with his people working , and he would go to the Church to thank the Lord for saving his life.  If the Church was closed he would kneel down outside and pray. So as he went to the Church his heart would definitely swell with thanksgiving to the Lord.

It is a good thing to give thanks to God and to sing a new song of thanksgiving and praise. Remembering the awesome and mighty works and ways in which He has saved, protected and blessed us…..

Most of all when we thank the Lord, we do His will as the Bible records in 1 Thess 5:18

in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Daniel knelt three times a day under every circumstance to give thanks to His God.

Let us bless the Lord at all times, and let His praise be continually be in our mouths,  Just three words and a moment of our time in 86,400 seconds in a day.  THANK YOU JESUS. Let us Remember Him through out the day.
