Reflections *8 – Keep your eyes upon JESUS

Mine eyes are upon thee, Oh Lord!
My heart sings a melody
The winds they blow
The raging of the sea But mine eyes are upon thee

Every work that the Holy Spirit begins in our life, He is able to bring to completion. Matthew 14th chapter records the incident of the Lord walking on the water. Peter was the only man who was able to walk on the water. It is a marvelous feat and ever since we have not heard or read about any such instances happening anywhere around the world.

Here we read that the Lord was walking on the water and Peter also desired to and started to walk on the water as the Lord called Him. Now how long was he able to walk on the water? Till the time His eyes were on the Lord, Peter walked on the water. When his eyes shifted from the Lord to the rough winds, then he started to sink. Let us learn our lessons from this practical demonstration. As we walk in faith we must develop the habit of looking unto the Lord and willfully avoid what circumstances or negative voices around us have to say.

Looking unto Jesus – Peter walks on water

As we walk on the waters with our eyes fixed upon Jesus, let us praise Him and worship Him with all our heart, soul, strength and mind. Let us be determined only to look to the Lord, having faith on His Word and He will complete the good work that He has begun in our lives.

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, and not on the circumstances.

Prayer: Loving Heavenly Father, Help and save me in every difficult situation.  I pray that you will sustain and not allow my foot to slip. I pray that I will, continually keep my eyes upon you no matter what the situation. Help me to continue to seek you every day in prayer and in the reading of your Word. In Jesus name I pray.

Keep your eyes upon Jesus – whether calm  or troubled sea

Reflections *7 – JESUS – The Author of our faith

Image result for images of jesus the author and finisher of our faith

Our faith begins with Jesus
Jesus is the author of our faith

In the book of Matthew 8: 5 onwards we read about a Centurion whose servant was paralyzed and in terrible pain. A Centurion is a leader of one hundred soldiers. He was a man under authority. He pleaded with the Lord Jesus for the healing of his servant. Even though the Lord was willing to go to his house to heal the servant, the Centurion had faith that if the Lord would ‘only speak a word’ his servant would be healed. The Lord granted his request and commended the great faith of the Centurion. The Lord sent His Word and the Centurions servant was healed.

You may be in a pressing crowd, or alone at home, your faith will not go unnoticed by God. This kind of faith pleases the Lord and releases heavenly blessings on our life. Today all that we need is ‘a word from the Lord’. A single word from the Lord can change our lives and our future. A single word from God can impact and change a nation. The Centurion shifted his eyes from a hopeless situation to a place of hope – which is the Lord Jesus. In the same way do not focus on the situation at hand, or on your failures and get depressed, but today as you read this email, arise and lift your eyes expectantly to the Lord Jesus and call out to Him. He will send you that one word that can bring healing, deliverance and victory in your life. Hallelujah!

Reflections *6 – Changing your mindset

To change your handset
All you would need is money
But to change your mindset?
Hmmm! Let us talk about it

There were three believers. They all had faced difficult situations, temptations, struggles and victories in their lives. They carry the memories of these difficult situations in a bag hung on their back called ‘BURDENS’. All the victories were hung in a bag on their chest called VICTORIES’. Let us see how each one faces life.

Having had many failures, the first believer often remembers his failures. He thinks he will not be successful anymore. Fear of the unknown rules his heart. He has lost all hope and is depressed. He worries about the future and has no will to carry on, He always ponders on his past failures. ‘I did not study well, I lost my job, I fell sick and so on. Now what will I do. He is unable to progress in life and is stationary. His ‘BURDENS’ bag is so full that it pulls him backwards. His ‘VICTORIES’ bag is empty. He is blinded by the devil and has forgotten his position in Jesus Christ as a believer. He has a defeated mindset.

The second believer also had failures in life like the first believer, but amidst this he also trusts in God. He carries some of his old burdens and sorrows with him. His “BURDENS’ bag is half full and he has got some victories. He goes ahead and makes some progress. He has got a progressive mindset.

"The Sword of The Spirit" by Ron DiCianni.

Sword of the Spirit – Word of GOD

The third believer has also had failures in life like the other believers. But now he has chosen to completely trust in God. He keeps His faith on God and always looks ahead to the Lord Jesus. He spends every moment Thanking and Praising God. He prays and reads the Bible, seriously. He has cut his ‘BURDENS bag at the bottom and everything that is put there falls out. His VICTORIES’ victories bag is full and under the weight of that bag he is pulled forward to more victories. He runs ahead to more victories in Jesus Christ. His ‘BURDENS’ bag is empty. He has got a victorious mindset.

How do we renew our mindset? The Bible speaks in Rom 12:2 about renewing our mind. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Don’t you want to renew your mindset ? Yes, we all want a renewed mindset. As you read and meditate on the Bible the Holy Spirit works in you and renews your mind. Everything has a beginning. To go towards victory one has to start today. Today let us break free from everything that holds us back. In Jesus name, today you can overcome a defeated mindset which God has not intended for you. Let us receive a victorious mindset that God wants us to have.

Prayer: Loving, Heavenly Father. As I read you Word please let my mind be renewed.  Let your Holy Spirit work in my life. I yield to your ways and to your will. Lead me to become all that you created me for. Let me do all that you want me to do each day. I thank you for hearing my prayer. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

The unseen comes into existence
The unseen comes to exist in the natural
When you are in F-A-I-T-H
When you are in a state of expectancy
When you are expecting from God.

The Bible says in Heb 11:6
So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

When we are in faith we are in a state of divine expectancy. We are expecting from God,

Stir up your FAITH

an answer to our prayer. So to please God our heart and mind must always be in a state of expectancy from God. We must be in this state of looking heavenward and waiting for an answer. Remember your first day at office, or the time you waited for your children’s examination results, or when you waited for the vacations, to take a trip back to your homes –  then you were in a state of expectancy. In the same way, as we are in this state of expectancy towards God, then He is pleased with us and our answers to our prayers is on the way.

In our current world, society and circumstances which prevent us from looking towards God, what is it that can keep us in such a state of expectancy? It is the Bible, the Word of God which adds fuel to our hearts and mind and keeps us always looking unto Jesus. As we get together with other believers, it is a blessing. As we have our family prayers, it is a blessing for us.

When we read His Word, when we ponder over what we have read, when we discuss it with some one, when we sing a song of praise to the Lord or when we pray, then we keep our faith alive and are in divine expectancy from God. Then, the moment you receive something from God, share it with the person next to you, speak about it, call a friend, shout it aloud. In this manner your can glorify His name. So be expecting from God who is never in short supply, but has good gifts for His children. Today and always.

Prayer:  Loving, Heavenly Father. No matter what the situation, let me always keep my heart and mind on you. For with you Lord nothing is impossible. I commit all my needs and the prayers that I have been praying. Today I believe that you are able to do, all that I have asked for and much more. Thank you Heavenly Father for hearing my prayer. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

Walk by faith and not by sight

You have INHERITANCES yet to claim
You have victories yet to be won
You have blessings yet to claim.
Receive it in faith.
They are all yours in Jesus name.
Read it (Bible), speak it out and receive it in faith.
The Word of faith is nigh thee even in thy mouth.

It does matter what you say. For if you say you cannot then you cannot.  If you say you can then surely you can. You can if you want to and you will not, if you don’t want to. So watch your words, watch where your mind is lingering, watch, watch, watch.

Walk by Faith

What is faith? How does one receive in faith? The Bible says in Heb. 11:1
The New King James version translation says
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of that things not seen.

New living translation says
It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.

It is the confident assurance that God will answer our prayer or what we are hoping in God for. The evidence or proof of this faith should be seen in our behaviour, our attitude or external attributes. It is very important how we behave, how we talk and how we express ourselves. We should always be in faith. It gives us a positive approach to life and an expectancy from God in all matters, e.g. If you are praying for a particular need (Job, promotion, healing etc) then you must think and behave as you have it. As you show evidence of your faith in your actions and in your talk, then one day, God will bring it forth in the natural. Your request will be granted. Always be in expectancy, in faith.

We have heard of body building, similarly we must also build up our faith. You can do faith building by hearing good messages, by reading the Bible.

Walk by Faith

is build by the Word of God (Bible). Start today by spending a few quality moments reading the Bible and praying. Make it a daily habit, then introduce it to your family. If you do not have a Bible get one. See the change and then share it with your loved ones and friends and give God the praise. Hallelujah!

Prayer: Loving Heavenly Father, You have revealed your plan and will for my life in your Holy Word, the Bible. Help me and give me the mind/time to read and to understand your divine Word. Reveal to me the truth in your Word, your blessings and all that you have kept for me. Thank you for hearing my prayer. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

Reflections* 1- The Good Seed

Image result for IMAGES OF GEN 8:22

The Harvest season just went by. The Harvest is a time of bringing in the first fruits to the Lord with thanksgiving. This is followed by the in-gathering wherein the entire crop is harvested. The farmer puts in a lot of hard work to see the fields ready for the harvest. But as he does his part God provides the seasons of rain, sunshine and winter as required for a good yield. So after we do our part we have to look up to ‘Jehovah Jireh’ our provider.

As He looks down at us we will have a great turn around in all that we do.

The Bible says in Gal 6:7

………..for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

If we sow good through our eyes and ears then the outcome also will be good. Through our eyes, and ears what goes into our mind will dictate our actions and what comes out of our mouth. As we sow good then we can expect good, if we sow evil we can expect evil. If we sow the good seed of Gods word into our lives, then peace, joy and blessings will follow, but if we sow to our sinful desires then sin will take root and show up in our lives.

In this new season let us be determined to sow the good seed of Gods Word into our hearts. Probably you have never read the Bible or read it seriously enough. Today is the day, you can start now. Let us prepare our hearts to receive the good seed of Gods Word. As you do this, your life will never be the same. It will change you for the better each passing day. What ever the situation in your life turn it to God and He will turn it around for you.

Prayer: Loving, Heavenly Father. Help me to read your Word each day. Give me understanding of our Word. Help me believe what your Word says for me. Help me to accept it! in faith. Lord Jesus you are that Word that came down from Heaven. Come into my heart and into my life and be king of my life. I thank you Father for hearing my prayer, In JESUS name I pray.

Trusting in God – Part 3

Trusting in God is to rely on Him totally, to lean upon Him. To be assured and be at rest that God is able, not only at good times but at all times, to do all that He has promised. To know that He is in control of any situation that you might be facing.

In the earlier days when there were times of financial crisis, I would panic and feel sickly. But over the years the Lord has trained me to depend totally on Him.  As His child He taught me that though my resources may provide for me, He is the ultimate provider and one of the way He provides is through our job and resources.  Jehovah Jireh – He is our provider.  No doubt we are happy when we have sufficient resources. But our heart and loyalty to the Lord must be the same when we have and when we do not have. For when we have He has provided through His riches and when we do not have, He will provide from His riches in glory through Christ Jesus our Lord.  This is the time our trust is built and our faith tested to know on whom we trust.  Phil 4:12 says it very clearly

I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.    His resources and provisions for us are infinite, never ending when we build His kingdom and follow His purposes.

IN GOD ALONE WE TRUST

As the Bible says in Ps 123:2

Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

When we trust in the Lord, we are ready to wait for Him. When we trust in Him we are ready to face the consequences of our waiting on Him. For we would trust in Him and in the outcome of the situation.

A true incident
Dogs are faithful animals.  They know their Master well.  Once I was at the construction site of my Dad.  There was a construction supervisor at the site who had trained a stray dog. This dog always remained at the site.  Once as I happened to be at the site helping my Dad, the supervisor gave me a few biscuits and asked me to feed the dog. So I put the biscuits before the dog and wooed it to eat it.  But the dog did not bother to hear my instructions.  As much as i tried the dog did not budge even though the biscuit was just a feet away.  The construction supervisor had a good laugh.  Then he said ‘Now watch’  and he looked towards the dog and said the words ‘eat’.  The dog immediately pounced on the biscuit and ate it up.   I failed in feeding the dog. But the dogs ears were  tuned to his master. The dog knew his master and was waiting for his instructions. He waited, though he wanted to eat the biscuits.

If we trust, we will wait. We will wait without grumbling, without struggling. Is 30:18 says

Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For theLord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.

During the reign of King Josiah, he read the book of the law in the hearing of the people and the king made a covenant before God as recorded in 2 Kings 23:3

Then the king stood by a pillar and made a covenant before the Lord, to follow the Lord and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people took a stand for the covenant

He brought spiritual restoration and healing to the land and there was no king like him as recorded in the Bible, who turned to the Lord whole heartedly to Trust in Him.  2 Kings 23:25

Now before him there was no king like him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses; nor after him did any arise like him.

Today as you read this, take a stand for the Lord. Turnaround to Him with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your might. And you will find SHALOM. Peace forever more.

For Surely He is coming quickly as He said.  Amen.

Trust in God – Part two

When we trust in the Lord, we are ready to wait for Him. When we trust in Him we are ready to face the consequences of our waiting on Him. For we would trust in Him and in the outcome of the situation.

Practically in life’s situation we have to show this Trust in our words and our action.  For the Lord does not look at the outward appearance but at our hearts.  In life’s situations let us not be tempted to succumb to the situations around us.  God has better plans and we see that repeatedly in the scriptures.  Our God is able to do much more than we ask or think and He is able to call out those things which are not as if they were.  So let us stand on His Word to see the blessings flow.  Let not our past experiences define our circumstances but let His Word which is eternal define our today and tomorrow.  He said ‘Heaven and earth will pass away but my Word shall not pass away’.  His Word will fulfill every purpose for which it has been send saith the Lord who has mercy upon us.

TRUST BEYOND DESPAIR

In the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon there were three Hebrew youths in captivity from Israel who refused to bow before the golden image that the King had made.  They were ready to face the consequences of a fiery death but refused to break the commandment of their God. On being warned and given another opportunity they still refused to heed to the Kings command.. saying as written in Dan 3:16-18

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver usfrom your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”

They trusted in their God and were willing to face the consequences.  How much do we Trust the Lord and His Word.  How far are we going to stand for His Word ? Let us learn and draw from the experience of these young Hebrew lads who were in a foreign land and stood for their God.    The fire was increased seven times and they were cast into the fire, but the Lord Himself stood with them in the fire and delivered them.  They came out unscathed, their hair was in tact nor was the smell of smoke on their body.  The king testified about them as mentioned in Dan 3:28,29

Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel[b] and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God! …………. because there is no other God who can deliver like this.”

So when we Trust in Him, He know us and will remember us, testify about us and show up on our behalf. Fear Not for He does not change…

The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands. Ps 138:8

Listen to this old melody and rejoice – Trust in the Lord and despair

David brings down Goliath

There is an unseen battle going on in the Spirit world. The battle between the powers of darkness and the Angels of God who fight for us.  The battle for the mind of man, the battle for souls.   The devil walks around every true Christian seeking to devour him.  But we have our victory in Christs blood shed on the cross. So we must be wary of the enemy and be able to discern clearly the works and schemes of the enemy who is constantly at war, but knowing well that the The battle belongs to the Lord.

David kills a lion with his bare hands

The challenge of Goliath

The story of David and Goliath is well know. Goliath the giant, challenged the Israeli army saying ‘I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together’.  And this went on for forty days. When David heard this for the first time his response was ‘ Let no man’s heart fail because of him’. Through his past experiences of killing the lion and the bear David knew His God.

The Philistines stood on a valley on a mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: and there was a valley in between them…(1 Sam 17:3)

Does this not remind you of the evergreen Psalm 23:4, Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for YOU are with me……

And finally when they faced each other for the fight this is what happened……And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.  And the Philistine said to David, “Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!”

David faces Goliath

Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.” (1 Sam 17:43-47)

David prophesied over the Philistine and God gave Israel the victory through the young shepherd boy, David….

The challenge of the King of Assyria

The Assyrian king send word to be given to king Hezekiah “Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying: ‘Do not let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, “Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”  (Isaiah 37:10)

Then was narrated the list of victories of the Assyrian King.   But Hezekiah prayed to the Lord, saying: “O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, the One who dwells between the cherubim, You are God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.

The Assyrian kings had a great record of victories and what ever they boasted were true.  But God brought them to defeat As King Hezekiah prayed thus.
Truly, Lord, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations and their lands, and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were not gods, but the work of men’s hands—wood and stone. Therefore they destroyed them.  Now therefore, O Lord our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the Lord, You alone.”  The angel of the Lord went out and defeated the enemy for the battle belonged to the Lord.

The challenge of the Moabites and Ammonites

When the people told Jehoshaphat that a great multitude of the Moabites and Ammonites were coming against them the King proclaimed a fast and sought the Lord. And the king prayed as recorded in 2 Chron 20:12
O our God, will you not execute judgment on them? For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”  and God spoke to King Jehoshaphat through His prophet saying ” Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”  Thus God gave victory to King Jehoshaphat over the multitude of enemies. (Read 2 Chron 20 for the entire account)

Now hear the the ISIS challenge or the IS challenge..

As we see the above challenge of Goliath, the challenge of the Moabites and to all these there was an answer from God.  So where will we be, or the Church be in this spiritual battle.  This is a battle not in the flesh but in the spiritual realm. Who will stand in the gap to face the enemy as the heroes of old stood in faith, took responsibility and God fought on their behalf.

As written in Eph 6:13
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to
stand.  The evil day has come and is NOW. Let us put on the whole armour of God, and RISE IN THE SPIRIT to fight the known enemy.  See the pattern of the victories above, whenever His people called or stood in faith, He gave them victory over the hordes of the enemy for THE BATTLE BELONGS TO THE LORD and He gives the Church/us  the victory when we stand in His name.

Trusting in God – Part one

The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.  Nahum 1:7

When we trust in the Lord, we are ready to wait for Him. When we trust in Him we are ready to face the consequences of our waiting on Him. For we would trust in Him and in the outcome of the situation.

God told Noah to build an Ark and he  obeyed the Lord and built the Ark, with his family.  The people wondered if there would ever be rain and they continued their lives till disaster struck. Probably they thought that the waters would subside but the deep and the heavens were opened to put an end to the violent and sinful and wicked people.  Noah and his family  family were the only humans saved alive, along with all the other living creatures in the Ark.  So how long was Noah in the Ark with all the living things and the cattle. He was in the Ark for more than a year and few months.  Now after about 150 days (5 months) God remembered him as recorded in Gen 8:1..

Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided.

After the waters subsided it was  one year and then the land also dried as recorded in Gen 8:13

And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the firstmonth, the first day of the month, that the waters were dried up from the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and indeed the surface of the ground was dry.

But still Noah patiently waited for a total of 57 days till the land was totally dry.  And God spoke to Noah as recorded in Gen 8:15,16
Then God spoke to Noah, saying,  “Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.

When we trust in God He will remember us.  If 600 year old Noah waited for 57 days to hear from God then if we take an average life span of 80 to 100 years then we have to wait on God for atleast 7 to 10 days to hear from Him. The Lord may respond earlier than that.  But our waiting on God with specific purpose, to hear Him, builds us and strengthens us.

Noah was not disappointed and so will also all those who wait on Him.

If you are in one corner of the world in a remote city, an ordinary person, but if you Trust in Him, He will remember you and as Soddom and Gomorah was not destroyed till Lot was brought to safety,  He will surely remember you.

Ebedmelech was a Eunuch in the court of King Zedekiah.  This king did not submit to the prophecy of Jeremiah that they would be safe if they surrender to the invading Babylonian army.  Jeremiah was treated with much harshness and was put in a pit, but Ebedmelech was instrumental in securing the kings permission to rescue him.  The Word of God was fulfilled through Jeremiah and the army invaded and killed the kings children in front of his eyes.  But Jeremiah was set free but what happened to Ebedmelech, did God forget him.  God remembered him as recorded in Jer 39:15-18

15 Meanwhile the word of the Lord had come to Jeremiah while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying, 16 “Go and speak to Ebed-Melech the Ethiopian, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Behold, I will bring My words upon this city for adversity and not for good, and they shall be performed in that day before you. 17 But I will deliver you in that day,” says theLord, “and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid. 18 For I will surely deliver you, and you shall not fall by the sword; but your life shall be as a prize to you, because you have put your trust in Me,” says the Lord.’”

What a great deliverence. The Lord knew his fears , gave him assurance and delivered him , because and only because He trusted in God.  So fear not.  God will remember us as we Trust Him and continue to trust Him and He will deliver us.

So when we Trust in Him, He know us and will remember us, testify about us and show up on our behalf. Fear Not.
