Love your enemies

Love covers a multitude of sin. GOD IS LOVE.  When we were His enemies, He still Loved us in His Mercy.

A Story

There is a story of a slave who came across a Lion in the forest, with a thorn deep in its paw. The slave braved it to the Lion and removed the thorn. He also did some natural dressing with leaves and the Lion slowly limped away.  As days went by, the slave was in the Roman prison and it was his turn to be fed live to a hungry Lion in the Roman sport, as the spectators clap and and cheer,  when the victim faces death at the mouth of a hungry lion. The day came and amidst much cheering the slave was put into the arena and the Lion came chasing towards the prey. But as it came close the Lion lost its pace and ferocity, and started to walk towards the slave and licked his hands and feet like a tamed dog. The whole crowd was astounded, they wondered why the hungry Lion behaved thus.  The Lion showed his love to the slave and returned back to its cage, all to the crowds amazement.  Little did they know that it was the same Lion which the slave had freed from the thorn in its paw..

There is the old saying ‘at times humans are worse than animals’.  The animal remembers but humans forget.

God’s Love for us is Unchanging

Forgiveness. Christ forgave us on the Cross, He died for all our sins.  Christ died for us, once who were sinners without escape.  The Lord not only forgave us but also forgot our sins as written in Micah 7:19
He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities under foot. Yes, You will cast all their sins Into the depths of the sea.

Forgiving with mere words is not enough, it is as good as worshipping God with words and not with our hearts. What about Forgiving unconditionally and loving people genuinely for Christ’s sake.   What about making a genuine effort as the Lord and Master said…in Matt 5:23,24,  probably the most difficult in our Christian walk.  A point seldom heard of nowadays.

Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

He bore it all for LOVE

Let us read carefully. The Lord said if your brother has something against you, not you have something against your brother. Loving unconditionally.  The Lord has commanded us, to Love one another as He has loved us.   Forgiving from our heart, may seem difficult at times. Humanely, is it possible to forgive from our hearts ?  But with the help of the Holy Spirit it is possible.  As God forgives and forgets we also will be able to forgive and forget and restore the relationship for His glory and praise. This would be the work of the Holy Spirit.  Great would be the blessing of those who keep the above commandment to take a step, to go and reconcile with his brother.

It is forbidden to speak ill about another servant of God or ministry, because he is Gods servant. It is not good to speak evil, about any person because Christ has died for him and loves him.  If we are unable to witness and share the gospel we should be constrained to do it with our lives, with Christ’s love working through us.

Years back when I was working in Mumbai there was a manned pantry  setup in the office serving us tea.  Since I was not used to Tea/coffee I requested the supplier for an alternate drink and he offered CADBURYS hot chocolate and I settled for it. After fixing the price as he supplied tea/coffee to the other staff, my drink would be hot chocolate. Things were fine for some time and slowly the hot chocolate was tasting like tea with very little chocolate. When I complained, he insisted that it was hot chocolate and also showed me the Hot Chocolate container in the pantry. But then I stopped taking the drink.  Time went by and I moved to another company in Mumbai.  Many years later on a Christmas day I saw the old tea supplier outside my brothers house where I was staying. We recognized each other and I called him and served him a Christmas snack.  As he was leaving he called me aside and confessed that years back he had cheated on the hot chocolate and served it mixed with tea.   A non- christian man is able to hear his conscience and obey. I was amazed and still am at what a genuine act of love can do.  It can bring repentance and open the door for the sharing of Gods Love.

In this day and season don’t we need more testimonies of God’s Love in action, the Love of Christ that makes an impact in others lives ?

Are we, who claim to follow the Man of Zero Ego, still caught up in ego.  Let us examine our hearts for unforgiveness. Let us let go and forgive, for Christ forgave us even when we were sinners. Unconditional forgiveness brings healing to our spirit, soul and body,  as we release our hurts and wounds of a long period.  Is it not time to rebuild relationships like of old. In Christ broken relationships can be Healed and Restored.

Let us surrender to the Lord as commanded in Jn 14:34-35

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Where Love is God is

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints

Well done my good and faithful Servant

If you can recollect your visits to the airport or railway stations,  when your loved ones arrive there is joy and when they depart for a season there is sadness.   At the departure hall there is sighing and tears, but at the arrival hall, there is laughter and joy. The arrival of a child into our family brings joy, but the final earthly departure of a loved one brings much sorrow and at times anguish to the soul.

When my mother passed I felt this deep sorrow and anguish as it was unexpected and happened suddenly and unexpectedly.  But God was good to me, who send His Word and whispered into my heart that she was no more from Job 1:21

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
And naked shall I return there.
The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away;
Blessed be the name of the Lord.”

The Lord has given and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.  This Word echoed in my heart and comforted me.  His love followed me to the extent that, wherever I have been, He has kept me in close proximity to mothers love that cares for me.  This is one of the many ways in which He assures us of His love to make known to us that His eyes are upon me.

From Glory to Glory

Death is where the linear path called life ends.  We are not going to return again through rebirth but as the Bible says in Heb 9:27
And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,

In death we cease from all our labours, cease from the race that we ran in this world, for we will never come back this way once again.  Lifetime is but once then there is eternity, with or without Christ.

The short span of our lifetime till death, determines our eternity with or without Jesus. Heaven or Hell. They that have lived in Him, have their garments washed in His blood and have run the race for Him will joyfully meet the Saviour on the other side, to be with Him forever and ever.

Solomon in his wisdom says it is better to be in the house of mourning than to be in the house of feasting….

Lazarus was raised from the dead by the Lord Jesus but some day he would have died again.  Jesus Himself is our resurrection,  the one who faced death on our behalf, and took upon Him our sins and transgression on the Cross…the one who comforted Martha and Mary…May He comfort you and may He resurrect you out of every dead situation in your life today, and bring new life into it.  With your eyes stayed upon Him, it is most certain that as you go through this season of gloom, or valley of tears, He will guide you and strengthen you and impart in your spirit a fresh touch of His Holy Spirit.

Stephen was the first martyr of the Church who was stoned to death for His faith.  But before he was taken into to glory he saw and declared that the Son of God was standing by His throne.  The Lord was not seated on the throne but rose up to giving a standing welcome to Stephen, the first martyr of the Church.  Every saint  who dies in Him is precious to the Lord. They were precious not only when they were on earth, but precious also is the death of His saints….

The Lord is the Resurrection and Eternal life who has promised to be with us through the valley of the shadow of death as recorded in  Ps 48:14

For this is God, Our God forever and ever; He will be our guide Even to death.  Helping us to say

“O Death, where is your sting?
…….... But thanks beto God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.    Amen

Rest In Him – The Lion and the Lamb

Trusting in God – Part 3

Trusting in God is to rely on Him totally, to lean upon Him. To be assured and be at rest that God is able, not only at good times but at all times, to do all that He has promised. To know that He is in control of any situation that you might be facing.

In the earlier days when there were times of financial crisis, I would panic and feel sickly. But over the years the Lord has trained me to depend totally on Him.  As His child He taught me that though my resources may provide for me, He is the ultimate provider and one of the way He provides is through our job and resources.  Jehovah Jireh – He is our provider.  No doubt we are happy when we have sufficient resources. But our heart and loyalty to the Lord must be the same when we have and when we do not have. For when we have He has provided through His riches and when we do not have, He will provide from His riches in glory through Christ Jesus our Lord.  This is the time our trust is built and our faith tested to know on whom we trust.  Phil 4:12 says it very clearly

I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.    His resources and provisions for us are infinite, never ending when we build His kingdom and follow His purposes.

As the Bible says in Ps 123:2

Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

When we trust in the Lord, we are ready to wait for Him. When we trust in Him we are ready to face the consequences of our waiting on Him. For we would trust in Him and in the outcome of the situation.

A true incident
Dogs are faithful animals.  They know their Master well.  Once I was at the construction site of my Dad.  There was a construction supervisor at the site who had trained a stray dog. This dog always remained at the site.  Once as I happened to be at the site helping my Dad, the supervisor gave me a few biscuits and asked me to feed the dog. So I put the biscuits before the dog and wooed it to eat it.  But the dog did not bother to hear my instructions.  As much as i tried the dog did not budge even though the biscuit was just a feet away.  The construction supervisor had a good laugh.  Then he said ‘Now watch’  and he looked towards the dog and said the words ‘eat’.  The dog immediately pounced on the biscuit and ate it up.   I failed in feeding the dog. But the dogs ears were  tuned to his master. The dog knew his master and was waiting for his instructions. He waited, though he wanted to eat the biscuits.

If we trust, we will wait. We will wait without grumbling, without struggling. Is 30:18 says

Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For theLord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.

During the reign of King Josiah, he read the book of the law in the hearing of the people and the king made a covenant before God as recorded in 2 Kings 23:3

Then the king stood by a pillar and made a covenant before the Lord, to follow the Lord and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people took a stand for the covenant

He brought spiritual restoration and healing to the land and there was no king like him as recorded in the Bible, who turned to the Lord whole heartedly to Trust in Him.  2 Kings 23:25

Now before him there was no king like him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses; nor after him did any arise like him.

Today as you read this, take a stand for the Lord. Turnaround to Him with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your might. And you will find SHALOM. Peace forever more.

For Surely He is coming quickly as He said.  Amen.

Hope against all Hope

Arise and Shine………amidst the darkness

A True story
This is a true story of a man in India who distributed five hundred Chapattis (Unleavened flat bread) to the poor every Sunday. Now there came a season of time when he was finding it difficult to do so and in the coming week he wondered what to do.  He shared his situation with his wife and she advised him to distribute the Chapattis once in two weeks.  He also shared his situation with the Church Pastor and he advised him, three hundred would be good enough. He was not convinced and he went to the Lord in prayer.  The man asked the Lord with a heavy heart, as he had been doing this work of charity for quite some time.  The Lords answer baffled, him surprised him and changed his faith life forever.  The Lord replied ‘ My son if you are unable to give five hundred then give a Thousand’. The answer resounded in his spirit for quite some  ‘ My son if you are unable to give five hundred then give a Thousand’.

So never give up. We were not called to give up, but to give from His supplies, for He is able to do much more , much more than we can ask , think or imagine.  God supplies according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus.  The supplies are from above for His purposes and glory.  This story has always challenged me, does it challenge you?  Never give up for God can. On our own we may fail, but with God we can.  When we do all things for His purposes,  His resources are still abundant and there will be no short supply.

No matter what the situation or circumstance, do not give up. This is the time and season to press on.  To press on to till you reach the promised land, till you reach the promises of God. Till all the promises God has given you, are Yes and Amen, in Christ Jesus.  For the promise is closer than we can imagine.

Abraham had a promise for a child, for God told him that his descendants would be as the stars of the sky. The promise was given when it was naturally impossible for him to have one.  So it not in our ability but in the one who promises. It is about the one who fulfills His promise, for He is Able and He is God.

Do not waiver in unbelief

Jesus came four days after the death of Lazarus.  There is a common belief among the Jews that the spirit of the dead person would be hovering for about three days.  So probably the Lord Jesus waited for four days.  Then finally to show His glorious work He raised Lazarus from the dead.  The family had lost all hope.  But when God shows up today anything is possible. For Nothing shall be impossible with Him. If He can raise the dead man, he can lift you up from any dead situation, He can give life to your situation.  What is without hope and is dead can see life even now as you are reading.  Only believe.  Abraham believed against all odds.  Only believe and you will see the glory of God, His supernatural works in a natural world.  In Rom 4:17,18 we read a powerful statement which says ….. (as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did; who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.”

When God was able to call out those things which do not exist as though they did, then in response Abraham believed and hoped in a contrary situation only to see a promise fulfilled and Gods name glorified.  He expressed and believed in hope against all hopes and this birthed out the due and promised son.  God will do this as we stand for Him and believe in His promises for us. NOW, hope against all hopes and the promise is about to be delivered in the natural.  All for His glory and praise..

Peter………Why did you doubt

Trust in God – Part two

When we trust in the Lord, we are ready to wait for Him. When we trust in Him we are ready to face the consequences of our waiting on Him. For we would trust in Him and in the outcome of the situation.

Practically in life’s situation we have to show this Trust in our words and our action.  For the Lord does not look at the outward appearance but at our hearts.  In life’s situations let us not be tempted to succumb to the situations around us.  God has better plans and we see that repeatedly in the scriptures.  Our God is able to do much more than we ask or think and He is able to call out those things which are not as if they were.  So let us stand on His Word to see the blessings flow.  Let not our past experiences define our circumstances but let His Word which is eternal define our today and tomorrow.  He said ‘Heaven and earth will pass away but my Word shall not pass away’.  His Word will fulfill every purpose for which it has been send saith the Lord who has mercy upon us.

In the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon there were three Hebrew youths in captivity from Israel who refused to bow before the golden image that the King had made.  They were ready to face the consequences of a fiery death but refused to break the commandment of their God. On being warned and given another opportunity they still refused to heed to the Kings command.. saying as written in Dan 3:16-18

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver usfrom your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”

They trusted in their God and were willing to face the consequences.  How much do we Trust the Lord and His Word.  How far are we going to stand for His Word ? Let us learn and draw from the experience of these young Hebrew lads who were in a foreign land and stood for their God.    The fire was increased seven times and they were cast into the fire, but the Lord Himself stood with them in the fire and delivered them.  They came out unscathed, their hair was in tact nor was the smell of smoke on their body.  The king testified about them as mentioned in Dan 3:28,29

Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel[b] and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God! …………. because there is no other God who can deliver like this.”

So when we Trust in Him, He know us and will remember us, testify about us and show up on our behalf. Fear Not for He does not change…

The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands. Ps 138:8

Listen to this old melody and rejoice – Trust in the Lord and despair

Rise in the Spirit of GOD

David brings down Goliath

There is an unseen battle going on in the Spirit world. The battle between the powers of darkness and the Angels of God who fight for us.  The battle for the mind of man, the battle for souls.   The devil walks around every true Christian seeking to devour him.  But we have our victory in Christs blood shed on the cross. So we must be wary of the enemy and be able to discern clearly the works and schemes of the enemy who is constantly at war, but knowing well that the The battle belongs to the Lord.

David kills a lion with his bare hands

The challenge of Goliath

The story of David and Goliath is well know. Goliath the giant, challenged the Israeli army saying ‘I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together’.  And this went on for forty days. When David heard this for the first time his response was ‘ Let no man’s heart fail because of him’. Through his past experiences of killing the lion and the bear David knew His God.

The Philistines stood on a valley on a mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: and there was a valley in between them…(1 Sam 17:3)

Does this not remind you of the evergreen Psalm 23:4, Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for YOU are with me……

And finally when they faced each other for the fight this is what happened……And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.  And the Philistine said to David, “Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!”

David faces Goliath

Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.” (1 Sam 17:43-47)

David prophesied over the Philistine and God gave Israel the victory through the young shepherd boy, David….

The challenge of the King of Assyria

The Assyrian king send word to be given to king Hezekiah “Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying: ‘Do not let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, “Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”  (Isaiah 37:10)

Then was narrated the list of victories of the Assyrian King.   But Hezekiah prayed to the Lord, saying: “O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, the One who dwells between the cherubim, You are God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.

The Assyrian kings had a great record of victories and what ever they boasted were true.  But God brought them to defeat As King Hezekiah prayed thus.
Truly, Lord, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations and their lands, and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were not gods, but the work of men’s hands—wood and stone. Therefore they destroyed them.  Now therefore, O Lord our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the Lord, You alone.”  The angel of the Lord went out and defeated the enemy for the battle belonged to the Lord.

The challenge of the Moabites and Ammonites

When the people told Jehoshaphat that a great multitude of the Moabites and Ammonites were coming against them the King proclaimed a fast and sought the Lord. And the king prayed as recorded in 2 Chron 20:12
O our God, will you not execute judgment on them? For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”  and God spoke to King Jehoshaphat through His prophet saying ” Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”  Thus God gave victory to King Jehoshaphat over the multitude of enemies. (Read 2 Chron 20 for the entire account)

Now hear the the ISIS challenge or the IS challenge..

As we see the above challenge of Goliath, the challenge of the Moabites and to all these there was an answer from God.  So where will we be, or the Church be in this spiritual battle.  This is a battle not in the flesh but in the spiritual realm. Who will stand in the gap to face the enemy as the heroes of old stood in faith, took responsibility and God fought on their behalf.

As written in Eph 6:13
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to
stand.  The evil day has come and is NOW. Let us put on the whole armour of God, and RISE IN THE SPIRIT to fight the known enemy.  See the pattern of the victories above, whenever His people called or stood in faith, He gave them victory over the hordes of the enemy for THE BATTLE BELONGS TO THE LORD and He gives the Church/us  the victory when we stand in His name.

Trusting in God – Part one

The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.  Nahum 1:7

When we trust in the Lord, we are ready to wait for Him. When we trust in Him we are ready to face the consequences of our waiting on Him. For we would trust in Him and in the outcome of the situation.

God told Noah to build an Ark and he  obeyed the Lord and built the Ark, with his family.  The people wondered if there would ever be rain and they continued their lives till disaster struck. Probably they thought that the waters would subside but the deep and the heavens were opened to put an end to the violent and sinful and wicked people.  Noah and his family  family were the only humans saved alive, along with all the other living creatures in the Ark.  So how long was Noah in the Ark with all the living things and the cattle. He was in the Ark for more than a year and few months.  Now after about 150 days (5 months) God remembered him as recorded in Gen 8:1..

Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided.

After the waters subsided it was  one year and then the land also dried as recorded in Gen 8:13

And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the firstmonth, the first day of the month, that the waters were dried up from the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and indeed the surface of the ground was dry.

But still Noah patiently waited for a total of 57 days till the land was totally dry.  And God spoke to Noah as recorded in Gen 8:15,16
Then God spoke to Noah, saying,  “Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.

When we trust in God He will remember us.  If 600 year old Noah waited for 57 days to hear from God then if we take an average life span of 80 to 100 years then we have to wait on God for atleast 7 to 10 days to hear from Him. The Lord may respond earlier than that.  But our waiting on God with specific purpose, to hear Him, builds us and strengthens us.

Noah was not disappointed and so will also all those who wait on Him.

If you are in one corner of the world in a remote city, an ordinary person, but if you Trust in Him, He will remember you and as Soddom and Gomorah was not destroyed till Lot was brought to safety,  He will surely remember you.

Ebedmelech was a Eunuch in the court of King Zedekiah.  This king did not submit to the prophecy of Jeremiah that they would be safe if they surrender to the invading Babylonian army.  Jeremiah was treated with much harshness and was put in a pit, but Ebedmelech was instrumental in securing the kings permission to rescue him.  The Word of God was fulfilled through Jeremiah and the army invaded and killed the kings children in front of his eyes.  But Jeremiah was set free but what happened to Ebedmelech, did God forget him.  God remembered him as recorded in Jer 39:15-18

15 Meanwhile the word of the Lord had come to Jeremiah while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying, 16 “Go and speak to Ebed-Melech the Ethiopian, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Behold, I will bring My words upon this city for adversity and not for good, and they shall be performed in that day before you. 17 But I will deliver you in that day,” says theLord, “and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid. 18 For I will surely deliver you, and you shall not fall by the sword; but your life shall be as a prize to you, because you have put your trust in Me,” says the Lord.’”

What a great deliverence. The Lord knew his fears , gave him assurance and delivered him , because and only because He trusted in God.  So fear not.  God will remember us as we Trust Him and continue to trust Him and He will deliver us.

So when we Trust in Him, He know us and will remember us, testify about us and show up on our behalf. Fear Not.

The Biblical secret to long life with vitality

We are in the age  of LONGEVITY.    Now there are available so many anti aging treatments, anti aging diets, skincare and so on.  But then leaving aside good looks , the body must be strong enough to carry you through.   I remember in my school days there were vitamin tabs called 30 plus and this would inadvertently have the image of a popular film star, just to woo the people.

But the truth is our days are numbered.  Without our consent time moves on. We have to get hold of time as it moves on.  A life of 100 years would amount to 36,500 days and further more 8,76,000 hours.  Is this not the time given to choose each mans eternal destiny.

There are some wonderful truths in the Bible touching this vital topic of longevity and that too living it well, with all strength and vitality.  This truth revolves around the lives to two mighty warriors Joshua and Caleb. They were the two spies who had brought a good report about the promised land to Moses and the people.  For they were able to see as God saw the land.  They were fearless and ready to follow God at all cost. They had faith to overcome the giants which they had seen in the land which they were going to possess.  (For more details read Num 13 and 14 )

Secret of Vitality and long life

Read carefully what Caleb said in Joshua 14:7 – 11,  when he was 85 years old ……

I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land, and I brought back word to him as it was in my heart.Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the Lord my God. So Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God.’ 10 And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old. 11 As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in.

As Caleb declares when he was 85 years old, saying that he has the same strength to go for war and to come in and go out as when he was forty.  What does he this to, how did he have this strength.   But as he said in Joshua 14:8 – He wholly or with his whole heart, he  followed the Lord.

Renewing your strength at all ages

Waiting upon the Lord, being still in His presence, not rushing through in prayer or worship, waiting to hear from Him.  As Is 40:30,31 says God does a new work in us and our strength is renewed like the Eagles. Hallelujah!

Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

The above blessing is for all who wait upon the Lord.  The promise is irrespective of our age.

So draw nigh to Him and He will draw nigh, to you and make you His child forever.  You will never regret.

Once a child, Always a CHILD OF GOD
no matter what the age

Your life is a seed in Gods hand – part 7 – The Fruitful Christian

These are they who understand the Word, have overcome persecutions and tribulations for the Lord’s sake, are free from the cares of this world, deceitfulness of riches and other lusts of this world.   When we reach this state then we are or become  Fruitful Christians.  The Word, the good seed falls in the good soil of our heart and is watered by the Holy Spirit and bears fruit.  Let us read Luke 8:15,8

But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

As mentioned in the above verses there are two points to be carefully noted.  We have to receive the Word and be honest with our selves, WE HAVE TO KEEP THE WORD AND WAIT PATIENTLY AT HIS FEET. Then good fruit comes forth. This is Gods principle.

In closing this series on ‘Your life is a seed in Gods hand’ let us read Lev 4:12

Even the whole bullock shall he carry forth without the camp unto a clean place, where the ashes are poured out, and burn him on the wood with fire: where the ashes are poured out shall he be burnt.

Here we see that the offering is burned on the fire till it is turned into ashes.  So the flesh has to burn on the altar of God as a living sacrifice.  It is when we are burnt out of our fleshly nature that we come into the fullness of the Holy Spirit. The candle shall no more be under the bushel but on the candle stand. Then we can joyfully sing this song.

It’s no longer I that liveth
But Christ that liveth in me.
He lives, He lives
Jesus is alive in me

“For just as the new heavens and the new earth Which I make will endure before Me,” declares the LORD, “So your offspring and your name will endure.  Isaiah 66:22

No matter what,  now cling to Him.  Let the past be gone. The Lord will receive you. Before it is late, before the darkness fills the earth, come and be in the LIGHT, live in the LIGHT that leads to ETERNITY. Amen.

Your life is a seed in Gods hand – part 6 – The Fruitless Christian

Let us read Mk 4:7, 18,19

And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit

And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

These are they who understand the Word and have faced afflictions and persecutions and are not offended. Here we see that it is the thorns that grew and choked the Word.  It is the cares of the world, deceitfulness of riches and the lusts for other things that made the Word unfruitful.

The Fishes  caught from the sea are in salty water but still when it is cooked,  salt is added to it.  The salt does not get into the fish, though it lives in the sea. Similarly we are in a sinful world and sin should not get into us, on the other hand the grace of God and His presence with us must impact other lives.

So what are the thorns, that grew and choked the Word ?

  1. What are the cares of this world ?

The Bible says in Matt 6:31

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

What we eat, drink and put on. Jesus taught us not to worry about these things. He said in Matt 6:28-30

And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

There is an old chorus which goes :-

Why worry when you can pray
Trust Jesus, He’ll show the way
Don’t be a doubting Thomas
Take God at His promise
Why worry, worry, worry ,worry
When you can pray.

2. Deceitfulness of riches

Riches always lure or entice us.  But it actually is like a Mirage which goes further and further away and we finally never reach the water patch. Riches are deceptive. We must never run after it. The Lord Jesus said as we seek His kingdom, riches and all that we need will come after us. Let us read Matt 6:33

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

We may yearn for a TV or a car not because we really need it but because our neighbour has it.  We may try to get something better than that.   This is another mirage which never satisfies.  On the other hand let us also be careful of where we sit and stand and our companions as mentioned in Ps 1:1-3

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

If you walk with the sinner then you will finally stand and talk and then finally sit with him.  We can do that to a receptive soul to save him, but let us not get into ungodly counsel and sit with the scornful which is not pleasing to the Lord.

 3. Lusts and pleasures

Mk 4:19 says

And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

These enter into the heart where the seed has been sown.  But how do these enter ?

They enter through the eyes. Matt 6:22,23 says

The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

They also enter in through the ears.

Apostle Paul said in Gal 5:16,17

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

So we have to be filled in the Spirit to be victorious over these.

PAUSE: Take time and answer this question. Pray to the Lord.

 Let us read Luke 8:14

And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

And finally God want us to mover towards perfection. But we have to commit ourselves to the Lord so that we can overcome the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches and lusts.  After being washed by His blood we should yearn to be filled with His Holy Spirit.

So how do we become fruitful?  Read Joshua 1:8

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

By meditating day and night on His Word. As we spend more quality time on His Word His presence will be with us and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches and lusts will just disappear out of sight.  Without the Word they will once again return.

But to be like a tree planted by the rivers of water we have to be with His Word day and night and night and day – pray- again Word – pray – again Word.  And they keep us from being deceived by riches, the cares of this world and the lusts in it and make us to bear good fruit for the Lord.   Hallelujah !
