THE WITHERED AWAY CHRISTIAN
(condition of the heart)
The Bible says in Mk 4:5,6
And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:
But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.
The meaning is explained as given in Luke 8:13
They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
Or as the Bible says in Mk 4:16,17 we are offended (hurt) by what happens in our life.
And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.
HAVE WE WITHERED AWAY?
PAUSE: Let us take time to examine our selves and answer this question. Pray to the Lord.
Even in such a situation our God does not forsake us. He is gracious and loving. His Word which is ever living is powerful as written in Jer 23:29
Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?
Gods Word is like a fire to burn all the thorns and the thistles. Gods Word is like a hammer to break the hardened areas of our heart. So we have to read and meditate on His Word not once a day but more nos of times. We must remain in His Word and His Word abiding in us, will (help) keep us from falling into temptations and from sin.
We must confess our sins everyday and be washed with His blood from all our sins. When we do this then our heart l becomes a good soil for the good seed to grow into a tree, and yield much fruit for Gods glory and praise. Hallelujah !
Prayer: Lord I have withered away. God of mercy and compassion have mercy upon me. Help me. Let you Word burn all the thorns and thistles in my heart and break all the hardened areas of my heart, now and even now as I pray. Make my heart good soil and let the good seed be sown in it and bear fruit for your glory. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
