…See that you are not troubled….Watch and pray…….
There are a group of people from Nepal who are called Gurkhas and they are know for their fearless military prowess.
The former Indian Army Chief of Staff Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, once stated that “If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or is a Gurkha” and may I add ” or a true disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ”
Of this clan there would be certain who would be in cities. I have seen them in my childhood days. They are very pleasant and friendly too. They keep watch over the suburbs and city by night. They have a stick with them and as they walk around, they hit this stick on the road. Thus signalling that they are on rounds. Some of them go on cycles and also blow a whistle. If at all a thief is spotted they blow the whistle to alert the people and would go after the thief. This is the traditional work of a watch man who would be brave and alert the people, thus guarding the city.
Many a times in big houses we also see trained dogs. These dogs are at times also pet named as – watcher. Their duty at night is to keep watch over the house. Either they bark and alert their master or trained ones would even chase or attack a thief.
In the Spiritual world, this is a watchman’s trumpet call i.e the watch man of the city blows a trumpet when he sees danger coming to the city. When the thief is trying to break into the city gates or when the thief tries to enter the families. This Email is a watchman’s trumpet call to you, to wake up and WATCH. To WATCH and PRAY.
One cannot despise or jump out of the times and seasons they are found in.
This message came to me concerning Edom :Someone from Edom keeps calling to me, “Watchman, how much longer until morning? When will the night be over?” The watchman replies, “Morning is coming, but night will soon follow. If you wish to ask again, then come back and ask.” Isa 21:11,12
Day and night passes by but a spiritual darkness covers the land or is coming. The morning is coming but the night will soon follow. There is a night coming when no man can work. Now let us do the works of God while we are in the day. Declining value systems, Degrading moral compass, a material world without need for God. The morning is slowly changing to night. Who can hold the fort ? Only the praying Christian, only the praying Churches and families, can keep the light burning for the Lord said ‘ As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.’
Cry out now, call out now, reconcile now, Seek Him now, forgive those you need to forgive now, Get right with God now, Do everything you need to now so we can escape the SUDDENLIES.
His watchmen are blind, They are all ignorant; They are all dumb dogs, They cannot bark; Sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. Isa 56:10
The watchmen must bark, warn, raise the alarm when they see danger coming, they must blow the trumpet. So that the people may be alerted and the city may be protected from the coming danger.
A disciple of the Lord is a farmer who has to sow seed, an athlete who has to run a race with the required discipline and also a soldier who has to be trained and ready at all times, to fight the enemy. Two countries may not always be at war , but the army is always trained and ready if war breaks. There is a rising call to prepare for the battle in the spirit with the armour of God. Every disciple must get ready
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
(Eph 6:13-16 NKJV)
Prayer : Loving and most gracious Heavenly Father. Thank you Lord for keeping us safe through out this week and giving us a new day. Help us to understand the times that we live in today. Help us to draw nigh to you so that you may draw nigh to us, as written in your Word. Cleanse our lives with your precious blood and help us to take all the actions and decisions required (forgive, repent, reconcile, prioritise ..) that we may truly enthrone you as King in our life. Prepare us to do all that you want us to do. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
