Reflections* 1- The Good Seed

The Harvest season just went by. The Harvest is a time of bringing in the first fruits to the Lord with thanksgiving. This is followed by the in-gathering wherein the entire crop is harvested. The farmer puts in a lot of hard work to see the fields ready for the harvest. But as he does his part God provides the seasons of rain, sunshine and winter as required for a good yield. So after we do our part we have to look up to ‘Jehovah Jireh’ our provider.

As He looks down at us we will have a great turn around in all that we do.

The Bible says in Gal 6:7

………..for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

If we sow good through our eyes and ears then the outcome also will be good. Through our eyes, and ears what goes into our mind will dictate our actions and what comes out of our mouth. As we sow good then we can expect good, if we sow evil we can expect evil. If we sow the good seed of Gods word into our lives, then peace, joy and blessings will follow, but if we sow to our sinful desires then sin will take root and show up in our lives.

In this new season let us be determined to sow the good seed of Gods Word into our hearts. Probably you have never read the Bible or read it seriously enough. Today is the day, you can start now. Let us prepare our hearts to receive the good seed of Gods Word. As you do this, your life will never be the same. It will change you for the better each passing day. What ever the situation in your life turn it to God and He will turn it around for you.

Prayer: Loving, Heavenly Father. Help me to read your Word each day. Give me understanding of our Word. Help me believe what your Word says for me. Help me to accept it! in faith. Lord Jesus you are that Word that came down from Heaven. Come into my heart and into my life and be king of my life. I thank you Father for hearing my prayer, In JESUS name I pray.

Your life is a seed in Gods hand – part 4 – The Wayside Christian

(condition of the heart)

The Bible says in Mk 4:4,15

And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.

And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

After the World war there were many places in which unexploded bombs were located.  Recently there was a report on such unexploded bombs being located in the UK. When such unexploded bombs are located they are diffused by a team of experts else they could result in loss to civilian life. So an unexploded bomb could be dangerous and even death to the civilians.

When the seed is sown by the sower, the fowls devour it or the devil comes immediately to take it away if it falls by the wayside. Do we have a wayside attitude to the Living Word of God or does the seed fall in the wayside of our hearts ?  To such a heart there is no difference between reading the newspaper or reading the Bible.

PAUSE: Let us take time, ponder and answer the above question.

The Bible says in 1 Pet 5:8

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

The devil knows that if this seed is left there then it can sprout, grow and bear fruit. So the devil does everything he can to remove this good seed of the Word of God even from the wayside of our hearts. He devours it with great urgency. The seed is like the unexploded bomb which means destruction to the devils kingdom but can bring a blessing upon the hearer who receives the seed.

The seed is the Word of God.

The sower soweth the word.  Mk 4:14

Every seed ( Word of God) has the power to give life to the receiver. This is what the Lord Jesus said in  Jn 6:63

…..the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

The Bible says in Luke 8:12

Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

Here we see the real power of the seed of the Word. It can save the person from sin and give him who believes eternal life.  The devil steals this opportunity from the person or the heart found by the wayside.  SINCE THERE IS NO SEED THERE WILL BE NO TREE AND SINCE THERE IS NO TREE THERE WILL BE NO FRUIT.

Every seed can germinate and grow into a full fledged tree bringing the receiver a blessing and destruction to the devil and what he plans to do in the life of the receiver.  The seed can build our faith, wash our lives, give us new hope, reveal to us the nature of God, and bless us in many and every way God wants to bless us. The devil knows the power in this seed fallen even by the wayside, that is the reason he quickly devours it.

Let us change our wayside attitude to the Word of God – today and graduate from the  wayside ( Christian)  to better and fertile ground. The Word is eternal and Living  and has a heartbeat.
