Trusting in God – Part one

The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.  Nahum 1:7

When we trust in the Lord, we are ready to wait for Him. When we trust in Him we are ready to face the consequences of our waiting on Him. For we would trust in Him and in the outcome of the situation.

God told Noah to build an Ark and he  obeyed the Lord and built the Ark, with his family.  The people wondered if there would ever be rain and they continued their lives till disaster struck. Probably they thought that the waters would subside but the deep and the heavens were opened to put an end to the violent and sinful and wicked people.  Noah and his family  family were the only humans saved alive, along with all the other living creatures in the Ark.  So how long was Noah in the Ark with all the living things and the cattle. He was in the Ark for more than a year and few months.  Now after about 150 days (5 months) God remembered him as recorded in Gen 8:1..

Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided.

After the waters subsided it was  one year and then the land also dried as recorded in Gen 8:13

And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the firstmonth, the first day of the month, that the waters were dried up from the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and indeed the surface of the ground was dry.

But still Noah patiently waited for a total of 57 days till the land was totally dry.  And God spoke to Noah as recorded in Gen 8:15,16
Then God spoke to Noah, saying,  “Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.

When we trust in God He will remember us.  If 600 year old Noah waited for 57 days to hear from God then if we take an average life span of 80 to 100 years then we have to wait on God for atleast 7 to 10 days to hear from Him. The Lord may respond earlier than that.  But our waiting on God with specific purpose, to hear Him, builds us and strengthens us.

Noah was not disappointed and so will also all those who wait on Him.

If you are in one corner of the world in a remote city, an ordinary person, but if you Trust in Him, He will remember you and as Soddom and Gomorah was not destroyed till Lot was brought to safety,  He will surely remember you.

Ebedmelech was a Eunuch in the court of King Zedekiah.  This king did not submit to the prophecy of Jeremiah that they would be safe if they surrender to the invading Babylonian army.  Jeremiah was treated with much harshness and was put in a pit, but Ebedmelech was instrumental in securing the kings permission to rescue him.  The Word of God was fulfilled through Jeremiah and the army invaded and killed the kings children in front of his eyes.  But Jeremiah was set free but what happened to Ebedmelech, did God forget him.  God remembered him as recorded in Jer 39:15-18

15 Meanwhile the word of the Lord had come to Jeremiah while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying, 16 “Go and speak to Ebed-Melech the Ethiopian, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Behold, I will bring My words upon this city for adversity and not for good, and they shall be performed in that day before you. 17 But I will deliver you in that day,” says theLord, “and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid. 18 For I will surely deliver you, and you shall not fall by the sword; but your life shall be as a prize to you, because you have put your trust in Me,” says the Lord.’”

What a great deliverence. The Lord knew his fears , gave him assurance and delivered him , because and only because He trusted in God.  So fear not.  God will remember us as we Trust Him and continue to trust Him and He will deliver us.

So when we Trust in Him, He know us and will remember us, testify about us and show up on our behalf. Fear Not.
